ShowerGuard

What is ShowerGuard ?Shower Guard

ShowerGuard is a permanent coating that is applied to theglass as it is being manufactured. Itcreates a barrierbetween the glass and the minerals in water, soaps, and cleaning supplies. It is a proprietary product of Guardian Industries.

Why Buy ShowerGuard ?

ShowerGuard will substantially increase the life span of your glass shower enclosure because it protects the glass against stains and hard water marks. Because it is produced at the factory under stringent quality controls, it is more reliable than similar products that are applied by the glass installer or the home owner. Most chemicals and similar products must be re-applied on a regular basis. With ShowerGuard you don't have to worry about re-applying it or setting up a maintenance schedule.

Is ShowerGuard Self-Cleaning ?

ShowerGuard is not self-cleaning, but the term self-cleaning is misleading. No glass will truly clean itself. These products are more accurately described as low maintenance. ShowerGuard will not prevent all water spots from forming, but it will prevent the contaminates from eating into the glass. ShowerGuard is an easy to clean product that will significantly extend the life of your glass.

Can I Rub ShowerGuard off ?

No, ShowerGuard is a permanent coating that is virtually impossible to rub off.

How can I tell if ShowerGuard is on my glass ?

ShowerGuard is nearly invisible to the naked eye. ShowerGuard is applied to one side of a lite of glass. The coated side is then marked by the manufacturer. After installation, an electronic detector that uses a reflected light beam can be used to detect the ShowerGuard coating.

Care

The best way to maintain the your enclosure is to wipe it down after every use. We recommend that you wipe it down with a soft non-abrasive cloth or squeegee to clean off excess water. Make sure to dry the glass thoroughly. Also try to keep your shower surround well ventilated to reduce the growth of mildew.

Cleaning

Your simplest, safest and preferred method of cleaning your shower enclosure is by washing it with warm clean water and drying it with a soft non-abrasive cloth. If soil is still present after drying, use a mild soap and warm water mixture, mixing a couple of drops of mild liquid soap into a cup of warm water. Using a soft non-abrasive cloth, clean the enclosure and then rinse it thoroughly with clean warm water and dry. The Bath Enclosure Manufacturer's Association (BEMA) recommends a non-abrasive cleanser with a pH of seven to eight. WARNING: Never use any acid or alkali "clean up" solutions or other cleaners that contain abrasives, acids, or alkali, such as Comet or Ajax; do not use sharp instruments, razor blades, scouring pads, dirty or gritty rags, powdered cleanser, steel wool or any other type of abrasive which may scratch the coating or the glass. Some of our shower hardware components may be coated with a clear lacquer that will be irreparably damaged if subjected to abrasive chemicals and/or scrubbing devices. Neglecting or ignoring the basic rules of maintenance will result in your enclosure not living up to it's potential long life.
